Experience Rural New Zealand at Pukeroa Station

Pukeroa Station sits in a peaceful valley with wide views of the surrounding hill country and ranges. It’s a laid‑back base for backpackers who want more than just a bed – a place to slow down, breathe fresh country air and get a genuine taste of rural New Zealand.

Our Experience

Why Stay at Pukeroa Station

Our lodge is a relaxed, no‑fuss place to stay that works well for backpackers, families and bigger groups travelling together. With plenty of bedrooms, shared spaces and a fully equipped kitchen, it’s an easy base for exploring the countryside or just unwinding on the farm.

Real Farm Life

Staying at Pukeroa Station means being close to everyday farm life. You’ll see sheep and cattle on the hills, meet the animals and, at certain times of year, you may be able to watch seasonal work like shearing, docking or mustering.

Off the Beaten Track

We’re based at Tiraumea on a working sheep and beef station, about an hour from Masterton and roughly halfway between Wellington and Hawke’s Bay, just off Route 52. It’s a quiet, out‑of‑the‑way spot that still fits easily into your travel plans.

“The best part of staying at Pukeroa Station was waking up to the hills, feeding the animals and feeling like we were part of the farm for a few days.”
